The Education department has increased the working hours of school teachers to 45 hours per week.
According to an order issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE), school teachers working in government/government-aided and unaided recognised schools will now have to devote 45 hours to teaching, which will also include preparation time, per week.Earlier, the work timings for teachers in summers was 7.30 am to 1.30 pm or 8 am to 2 pm. According to the order, the new timings will be 7.15 am to 2.45 pm. Work timings for winters has been changed to 7.15 am - 2.45 pm. The order was passed by the department under relevant sections of the RTE.In a separate notification, the DoE stated that schools could not compel parents to submit attested copies of any document during nursery admission. “Parents need to submit only self-attested copies of certificates/documents or of any other attachment. School can ask for production of original documents for verification at the final stage of admission. If documents were found to be fake or non-verified, the school may cancel the candidature of such applicant,” the notification said.The notification was sent out after DoE received complaints about schools asking for attested documents.
