A total of 31,306 students in the district (which includes 13,582 boys and 17,724 girls) will be appearing for the class 12 board examinations in March this year.
This number is higherthan the 29,776 students who took the
examinations last year. In order to enforce strict rules for conducting
the examinations in a fair manner, the
invigilator student ratio has also been
modified from 1:1000 (2013) to 1: 400 this year, said Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector.
She was speaking during an inspection of
Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Srirangam on Thursday.
She also stated that the total number of
centres for the class 12 examinations in the district has now been increased to 178, with the addition of 7 new centres.
These include six government schools in
Marungapuri, Ayilapettai, Ettarai, Valanadu, Pulivalam and Oothukuli, in addition to a private school, Bharat Vidya Mandir, Palur.
“In 2012- 13, the pass percentage in class 10 examinations was 95.1 percent (compared to 90.52 percent in 2010-11 and 91.14 percent in 2011-12). Similarly, the pass percentage in class 12 examinations was 93.7 percent
(compared to 88.45 percent in 2010-11 and 87.67 percent in 2011-12). As a result, our district stood in seventh place with respect to class 10 pass percentage and fourth place with respect to class 12 pass percentage in the state.” said K.Selvakumar, chief educational
officer, Tiruchi district. “But this academic year 2013-14, our aim is to put all efforts towards making Tiruchi district top the list in the state with the pass percentage of 100,” he added.
